Of all the Constellations, the Southern Cross is the smallest in area, it is however one of the most significant! It indicates the estimated position of the South Celestial Pole, the longitudinal bar of the ‘Crux’ points almost exactly towards the South Pole of the sky – used by many seafarer’s to navigate their way.

The Founder of MTE

A ‘go-getter’ and always up for any challenge!

Training and upliftment has always been an integral driving force steering MTE’s Founder, Miss Yvette de Klerk, to reaching not only her own personal life goals, but helping others reach theirs – evidence thereof date back from her pre-maritime career where she helped her clients reach their health, fitness and nutrition goals!  Yvette also enjoyed lecturing Sport Psychology part time, and presenting health and wellness seminars.

After obtaining her Fixed-Wing Private Pilot’s Licence during 2007, the natural progression for her at the time, was to move on from Aviation, to that of Maritime…

Having commenced her maritime studies at the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania, she ended up obtaining her National Diploma: Maritime Studies from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Granger Bay. Yvette soon after navigated her way back to Training…

Eager to continuously grow and develop her skills, Yvette fulfilled various roles along the way in her career ashore, both in Cape Town and Singapore – Training Manager, General Manager, Crewing Manager (RKO Singapore), Training & Marketing Manager (MCS Africa Division) and Operations and Marketing Manager. (MCS/MBC Group).

Yvette is currently the National Cadet Programme Manager

“Yvette is a member of the NI (AMNI), Propeller Club of SA, and the Operation Phakisa Marine Transport Skills Working Group, coordinated by SAIMI.”
As Honorary Member of the General Botha Old Boys Association, Yvette voluntarily lends her support to the GBOBA Bursary Fund, and is the Secretary for the Tertiary Sub-Committee.
